Background of the Company
The factory established by the Greece investor its former name of Lazaridis Cotton Mills LTD S.C, in 1954 E.C (1961 G.C) and has its principal company location in the Addis Ababa city area in Ethiopia, created to produce & supply a cotton yarn the later on by the name of Adei Ababa Yarn Factory and Addis Izemir Textile Factory by expanding into blanket, knitting, dyeing and garment plants developing self-contained manufacturer with integrated plants. Currently by the name of Yirgalem Addis Textile Factory PLC in 2002 E.C (2010 G.C) was privatized from government ownership on sales basis and created to bringing integrated products & services by under gone through various rehabilitation and expansion projects plus employee’s capacity building programs to improve its capacity and competitiveness in export and domestic markets. The company is located in Addis Ababa Debrezeit Road, Nefas silk-lafto, and it has the advantage of getting electric power supply, proximity to center of the Addis Ababa city market (Merkato) and Mojo dry port and the basic infrastructure of water supply, schools, hospitals, potential train transport and other facilities.

The facilities area equipped with modern circular and flat knit machineries and are backed up with a team of trained and efficient man power resources. Our knitwear plant started production with a firm determination to manufacture international standard quality fabrics including jersey, rib , interlock , French terry, stock net, collar and cuff .
Dyeing Capacity : 7000 Kg Per Day.

The dyeing section processes 100% cotton fabrics and blended fabrics We are OEKO- TEX certified and we use highly environment -friendly dyes of the best quality. The section has a water treatment and recycling unit that that protects environmental pollution by controlling the content of hazardous chemicals in the sewage water. In the washing section of the dyeing unit we are equipped with modern washing , squeezing and drying machines to make stone washing , enzyme washing , bleach washing and normal washings processes.
We have well organized work-force that are incorporated with full drive, efficiency and experience. We have a well-organized design room and printing facility to produce more value added garments.

The blanket unit is equipped with weaving, direct warping and sectional warping, raising, stitch bonding and carding facilities to produce high quality woven and non-woven blankets. The non-woven blanket production facility is very rare in Africa and gives a good advantage of waste recycling that makes us cost effective and environment-friendly.

Waste Management Policy It is our company policy to ensure a high level of commitment to good environmental policies throughout our business activities. It is our intention to develop this policy by minimizing the generation of waste, through good purchasing practice of materials used throughout the production system and reuse and recycle materials whenever practical to do so by complying with all legal and regulatory frameworks. To help ensure we give proper consideration to our environmental and waste management responsibilities and to assist in the minimization of waste and the recycling of materials wherever practicable, systems and procedures will be implemented to encourage the recycling of material with a view to minimizing the overall levels of waste we produce. All staff are expected to abide by the procedures set forth and co-operate with management in the execution of this policy. Waste Water Treatment (Effluent Treatment Plant) Yirgalem Addis Textile Factory PLC has a significant volume of effluent discharge; when operating at full capacity estimated to be 900 cubic meter per day coming from the knit processing and Dyeing washing plants. YATF construct and install waste water treatment plants which have an excellent effluent discharge during operation. The ETP (water treatment plant) treated effluent waste water as per the specific parameters set by the local regulatory authority i.e. Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and complying with the national effluent discharge limit regulations and internationally cherished brand buyers requirements.
